Located in south Texas along a 200-mile corridor, the Eagle Ford shale trend represents one of ConocoPhillips’ most promising developments, where we produce oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids (NGLs). As of year-end 2015, we had more than 950 producing wells with a full-year average net production of 174 MBOED.
Eagle Ford is the first organic, home-grown, horizontal shale play in our company’s history. We hold approximately 216,000 net acres in the liquids- rich part of the play, primarily in DeWitt, Karnes and Live Oak counties. Our wells are typically drilled to depths ranging from 10,000 to 13,000 feet total vertical depth, with laterals commonly extending more than 5,000 feet.
Condensate Processing Facilities
We operate three condensate processing facilities in the Eagle Ford, which lower the condensate's vapor pressures to meet market and contractual requirements. During processing, natural gas liquids are removed from the crude oil. The resulting condensate is then ready for delivery into the pipelines, and the NGLs are placed in storage tanks until they can be transported offsite and sold.
The Helena and Bordovsky facilities, located near Kenedy, Texas, are 100% owned by ConocoPhillips and have 105 MBOED of combined processing capacity. The Sugarloaf Plant, located near Pawnee, Texas, is 87.5% owned by ConocoPhillips and has 30 MBOED of processing capacity.
